Our Growth
Today, Shore Acres handles more than 200 species of plant material, and creates a finished, quality product for the consumer in several container sizes.
Operating as a plant farm, our potential far extends beyond the plant nursery classification. Shore Acres supplies vegetable plant liners, organic and herbal plant production services, native plant production for beach or marsh restoration.
Family Owned and Operated for More than 70 years
Established in 1945 as a road side plant stand, Shore Acres Plant Farm was started near Bellingrath Gardens and Home by Oliver Washington II, the owner’s grandfather. In 1978, Oliver Washington III, also known as “Big Ollie” incorporated Shore Acres Plant Farm and expanded sales to regional retail stores. Since that time, Shore Acres Plant Farm Inc. has grown to service many areas of the Southeast including Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
